Data Transfer to and from ada.uea.ac.uk

To copy files from one system to another (eg from your PC) you will need to copy them to or from the cluster using scp.

 

Window

  • We recommend that you use a free programme called WinSCP, which should be installed on all UEA PCs by default.  If it isn't, it can be installed from the Software Centre (Application Catalogue)

For personal machines,  WinSCP can be downloaded from the following page

  • You can also use filezilla (installed on UEA desktops)

Linux

  • To copy a directory and it's contents to the cluster from Linux.  Open a terminal and type

scp -r workdir <username>@ada.uea.ac.uk:/gpfs/home/<username>

  • Alternatively you can use filezilla (installed on UEA desktops)

For personal machines, you can download it from here

  • Another option is to use the files tab on the UEADA app on the UEA linux desktop

 

Mac OS X

  • To copy a directory and it's contents to the cluster from Linux.  Open a terminal and type
